"The thought struck me - how similar is my world to the world of Magoo! How often have I been trapped in conversation with a blithering idiot who was all too happy to spend the evening holding forth with whatever faux-profundity his addled mind had most recently pieced together, presuming that he is dazzling me with his rare insights, while, in actuality, I’m mightily distracted by the parliament of chirping birdies (a spectre that, given my particular peer group, I’m afraid to admit, can be taken either figuratively or literally) that have taken roost upon his head with neither his knowledge or consent. Would that the real world were like Magoo’s world, where the conversational vampires at parties can be spotted by the bustling bird’s nest that rests atop their crown, where their empty-headed monologues are routinely drowned out by the e’er-present din of chirps, where an unbearable conversation can be aborted simply by tossing a handful of chicken scratch at their scalp and then stepping aside to avoid the ensuing bloodbath.

Ahhhh, exam time has come again. For me, this is the time of year when classes are out and I tend to block out the fact that I have exams for the next two weeks until the evening before when I try desperatly to learn, for example, what ought to compromise the anthropological project. Anyways, I'm at my parents house using the computer and eating food(I moved out, by the way).
I'd like an ipod for xmas, but I probably won't get one. (What?!! you don't have an ipod yet?)
Things are looking up around me. Good news for my brother, it's benin not malignant! I've never seen him so vulnerable. All I could do was tell him I love him, and it was really scary.

Things are good lately.
We went to Bright Eyes in Fargo last week, and I'd say that it was better than the Bright Eyes show in Montreal. Probably because he played mostly old stuff. The two opening acts were super good also so we got their cd's and they're great!
I'm moving out, probably next weekend, into an awesome little house that is mostly pink. I am really excited to not live with my parents for a while. Don't get me wrong, I love them and I have it so good at home, but this just seems right.
A few weeks ago a few of us drove up to Edmonton to visit a friend who moved there for school. It was a super good trip, minus a thief stealing our digital cameras. But we got them back so it turned out pretty well.
Something that sucks as usual is school. I'm just not motivated at all to do my work and most of my classes suck. Bahhh. I don't want to talk about school.

I havn't updated in a long time it seems. I'm back at the uofw and it sucks already. I only go tuesday/thursday but it's pretty long days. I had a really good week last week due to some New Zealand visitors. My hair is long. My birthday is soon and I'm having a party.. you can come. I don't want to say anything else. Blah. |

Anyways, I went to FolkFest last weekend, that was fun.
I really don't have much to say here.
I'd like to get my nose pierced. I don't know why. I think if I did I'd take out my vertical labret.. but we'll see. I hope to get my tattoo by my birthday, which is the end of September. I'm saving as best I can. Yea..enough with the mod talk.
I painted my room last week and got some new furniture and cd racks and I'm enjoying it a lot more now.
My parents have left to the cabin for the summer as they always do. I really like being alone, I just wish my house wasn't so big. It seems so ridiculous for one person.
I hope to get to the zoo soon. I've got to catch up with my old camel pals. Fuck, I love camels.
My wishlist at amazon.ca is growing rapidly. I think it's time to dust off the old credit card and make a dent. My music taste is diversifying nicely.
Last night I saw CRASH at the cheap seats. It was pretty powerful, but in a subtle way.

Everybody is trying SO HARD to be whatever it is they want to appear to be, and nobody is actually being themselves. For right now, I am totally content only have a few close friends because at least they are people that I like. I havn't met anybody in the past year that is actually original, or intriging, or interesting. I know there are people out there, but our paths havn't crossed yet. It seems like too many people are squeezing themselves into whatever mold they like the best. I'm really not trying to be cynical, I'm trying to be honest.
I can wait, because I'd rather not settle for some shallow attention.
P.S. The new Ryan Adams is fucking good. |

Things have been fairly well lately. I've completely finished university for the year and I'm not taking any intersession courses so I have 4 months off. I've been working quite a bit at the old movie store. I was actually offered another job as an actress(!!!) at a museum, but I had to decline due to the availability they needed. The job sounded like something that would have been cool, it entailed theatre, history, crafts and gardening!
I've got my new car and it's pretty nice. I think I've finally gotten the hang of standard, it wasn't the smoothest ride at first but I'm progressing. So other than the fact that the weather is making my hands blue, things are good. Oh, and Jill's home so that rules.
I hope everybody else's stuff is well. |
